I’d really like to see additional rules in the Attendance tab of the Level Data state validation data suite. In particular, I think a rule that flags students with an ADA/ADM of 0 would be especially useful. Usually there is an issue with those students’ configuration that needs to be reviewed. I also think a rule that flags students with a blank value in the Track field could be useful as well. While Track isn’t required by the state, it is often critical to ensure ADA/ADM calculations are accurate for only on-track days.
Level Data should consider adding a tab of rules dedicated to ensuring READ Act data logged in PowerSchool for the READ Act Data Collection Snapshot is accurate for state reporting. Some potential rule examples: K-3 READ Plan: for students in grades K-3, S_CO_STU_X.READ_PLAN must be a valid value.K-3 READ Status: for students in grades K-3, S_CO_STU_X.STATUS_READ must be a valid value. If S_CO_STU_X.READ_PLAN is 1, then S_CO_STU_X.STATUS_READ must have a value of 1, 2, 4, or 6.K-3 READ Test: for students in grades K-3, S_CO_STU_X.TEST_READ must be a valid value, and cannot be blank or 00.K-3 READ Score: for students in grades K-3, a value must be entered in S_CO_STU_X.SCORE_READ. READ Testing Date: for any student with a value other than blank/00 in S_CO_STU_X.TEST_READ, a valid date must be entered in S_CO_STU_X.TEST_DATE_READ. Date must fall within current school year.4-12 READ Status/Plan Alignment: Students in grades 4-12 with any value other than blank in S_CO_STU_X.READ_PLAN must have a valid value in S_CO_STU_X.STATUS_READ.4-12 READ Test: students in grades 4-12 may not have a blank value in S_CO_STU_X.TEST_READ.4-12 READ Score: students in grades 4-12 with a value of 00 or 04 in S_CO_STU_X.TEST_READ must have a value of 9999 in S_CO_STU_X.SCORE_READ.ML Student Exemption: only students with a value of 1 in S_CO_STU_X.LanguageProficiency may have a value of 4 in S_CO_STU_X.TEST_READK-3 Recommended Retention: All K-3 students with a S_CO_STU_X.STATUS_READ of 0, 1, or 4 must have a value of 2 in S_CO_STU_X.REC_RETEN_READ.4-12 Recommended Retention: All 4-12 students with any value other than blank in S_CO_STU_X.READ_PLAN must have a value of 2 in S_CO_STU_X.REC_RETEN_READ.Alternative Assessment: Any student with a value of 1 in S_CO_STU_X.CSAP_ALTERNATE_ASSESSMENT must have a value of 2 in S_CO_STU_X.REC_RETEN_READ Further suggestions for READ act related rules can be found here in CDE’s file layout for this submission: https://ed.cde.state.co.us/fs/resource-manager/view/93c61294-5d72-4e55-8cb8-2bf802371547
Colorado has a new state reporting field for free-reduced lunch students this year: S_CO_STU_X.AtRiskStatus. This field must have a value in it If S_CO_STU_X.StateLunchStatus is 01 (Free Lunch Eligible), then S_CO_STU_X.AtRiskStatus must have one of the following values: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19If S_CO_STU_X.StatusLunchStatus is 02 (Reduced Lunch Eligible), then S_CO_STU_X.AtRiskStatus must have one of the following values: 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
Colorado is adding a new state reporting field for Free/Reduced Lunch tracking this year: S_CO_STU_X.AtRiskStatus. This field has some code values that should ONLY be used at CEP schools (schools.s_sch_x.cep_school = 1). Could Level Data create a validation rule that flags an issue for students enrolled at a school where Schools.s_sch_x.cep_school = 0, but the student’s S_CO_STU_X.AtRiskStatus field value is 13, 16, 19, 23, or 26? Using one of these values at a non-CEP school will cause an error in state reporting.
Colorado state reporting in PowerSchool requires a value in the field S_CO_STU_X.StateLunchStatus. The accepted values for S_CO_STU_X.StateLunchStatus are 00 (Not Eligible), 01 (Free Lunch Eligible), and 02 (Reduced Lunch Eligible). However, this field is updated independently of the native LunchStatus field in PowerSchool, with values P (Full Pay), F (Free), and R (Reduced). Could Level Data create a validation rule that flags any student that has a mismatch between the LunchStatus field and the StateLunchStatus field? This is not a hard and fast state reporting rule, but could indicate a problem with data management that needs to be reviewed. Broadly, the fields should align like this:S_CO_STU_X.StateLunchStatus = LunchStatus00 = P01 = F02 = R
Colorado requires that STUDENTS.S_CO_STU_X.parent_res_district be filled with a district code value if STUDENTS.S_CO_STU_X.Attend_Info is 04. Could Level Data develop a validation rule that flags students with a blank vlaue in S_CO_STU_X.parent_res_district if S_CO_STU_X.Attend_Info is 04?
Colorado requires that the Home-Based Education flag (STUDENTS.S_CO_STU_X.HOMEBASEDED) be filled if the student’s Public School Finance code (S_CO_STU_X.STATUS_FOR_FUNDING) is 85 (Part-Time, Home-Based Education). Could Level Data develop a validation rule that confirms that when S_CO_STU_X.HOMEBASEDED is a value of 1, S_CO_STU_X.STATUS_FOR_FUNDING is 85, and vice-versa? If these values are mismatched, the data should be reviewed.
Colorado has new fields to indicate abbreviated school day status. Could Level Data develop an Enrollment or Attendance rule that validates that if STUDENTS.S_CO_STU_X.abbr_sch_day_status is 1, that STUDENTS.S_CO_STU_X.total_abbr_sch_days cannot be blank or 0?
Good morning,Colorado’s TSDL state report requires any course with an alternative course number beginning with 01, 02, or 03 to have a value in the core credits field (COURSES.S_CO_CRS_X.core_credits_crs). Could we develop a validation rule on the TSDL tab that confirms this?
